How long should you wait to turn on a fridge after delivery?

After receiving a new fridge or American fridge freezer, it’s important to follow proper steps before turning it on to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Here’s what you should do:

    • Allow the Fridge to Settle: Once your fridge is moved into its designated spot in the kitchen, it should be left unplugged and upright for at least 4 hours. This waiting period allows the compressor oil, which may have shifted during transport, to settle back into place. This step is essential to prevent potential damage and ensure the appliance operates correctly.
    • Plug in the Fridge: After the 4-hour settling period, you can plug the fridge into the electrical outlet. Ensure the thermostat control is set to the “on” position.
    • Let It Cool Down: Before placing any food inside, allow the fridge to reach its optimal operating temperature. This cooling period may take up to 12 hours, depending on the model and ambient conditions. During this time, the appliance will stabilise to the correct temperature for safe food storage.

If you need model-specific instructions or have misplaced your manual, you can download your user manual. Should you encounter any issues or have concerns about your new fridge, contact our customer care team for assistance.
